We met at Judy Ondeck’s house for our second meeting. Attending were Barbara, Jo Ann, Sue N., Betsy, Ann, and Andrea. Numerous topics of discussion followed lovely refreshment.
Topics of discussion included:
  • A recent service visit from Bridgette at Quality Sew and Vac maintenance dept at Tukwila, as she tuned up Andrea, Barbara, and Judy’s Long Arm Machines in one day.
  • Sue N. shared printouts of easy quilting motifs which she often uses to add to our “mental” libraries. She also requested assistance from quilters to quilt American Hero Quilts.
  • Andrea shared a book she is fond of for quilting motifs, 180 More Doodle Quilting Designs.
  • Judy shared that she purchases Fil Tec Glide pre-wound bobbins in Black and White thread in boxes of 100 at a discount from Meissner Sew & Vacuum in Sacramento.
Rulers and their uses were the topic of the meeting.
  • Some rulers shared were flower nesting and circle multiple rulers;
  • Westalee Simple Circle rulers;
  • Control Freak from Gina Perkes;
  • DeLoa Jones line of rulers;
  • Linda V. Taylor’s straight ruler;
  • HandiQuilter rulers;
  • Rhonda Beyer rulers; and
  • Longarm University rulers and stencils to use for cross hatching.
Discussions also included the various quilting feet and how they are used during the quilting process and with rulers.
We learned more about Red Snappers for loading quilt tops on frames and cut up PVC pipe pieces to attach tops to frames; and reminder to always bring the take up roller back down after finishing the quilt.
Hints:
  • Use 505 spray adhesive on the back of rulers to prevent slipping. Jo Ann found the spray helpful.
  • Judy recommended WD40 to clean adhesive from the rulers between uses. There is also a skate board tacky product that is available from Amazon to apply to rulers.

We’ll meet next month at Sue Nebeker’s on March 25th at 1:00pm..
